Further overnight rain has caused Sandown to call off the hurdle races at its meeting tomorrow.
The track, whose fixture scheduled for this afternoon was lost due to waterlogging, will stage an all-chase card as the hurdle course was deemed unraceable at an inspection today.
'It was a very quick decision to abandon the hurdle races,' clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said. 'We had about 8mm of rain overnight and it is still raining. So we will proceed with an all-chase card.
'The chase course is OK and raceable at present - it is a mixture of soft and heavy ground - but the forecast is for potentially quite a lot of rain today so we will have to monitor the situation.'
The three chases lost from today`s card will be added to tomorrow`s three races over fences to make a six-race card at Sandown.
A revised running order has yet to be determined but the Grade One Mitsubishi Shogun Tingle Creek Chase will be the highlight.
Scrapping the William Hill Hurdle has saved the sponsors a possible big pay-out on Martin Pipe`s Murray River, who was backed from 14-1 in to 7-2 early this week.
