ALBARAHIN BOOKED FOR FRANCE

Albarahin cruised through the mud at Goodwood today to earn a trip to Longchamp a week on Saturday.

The 4-5 favourite made every yard of the running to win the feature Caffrey`s Premium Ale Foundation Stakes.

The five-year-old was never in any danger in the Listed contest and gave Richard Hills an armchair ride, beating Right Wing by a length and a half with Diamond White three-quarters of a length further back in third place.

Winning trainer Marcus Tregoning said: 'We took him out at Newbury last weekend because of the fast ground.

'He doesn`t really need it as soft as it is here but he has to get his toe in a bit.

'This has just put him right for France where he should run in the Prix Dollar at the Arc meeting.'

Apprentice Steve Carson rattled off a 95-1 double with wins on Pheisty and Absolute Fantasy.

The 3lb claimer has now ridden 24 winners this season but still has over 30 more successes to go until he loses his allowance.

Pheisty loves a fight and she came into her own at the end of opening Macphie Foodservice Classified Stakes.

The Fulke Johnson Houghton-trained three-year-old came with a flourish in the final furlong to beat Sovereigns Court and favourite Capriolo, who had attempted to make all, by half a length and the same.

Carson said: 'I thought I was going to get a decent run through but got stopped at one point. She got going again to great effect.'

The jockey, who had ridden a double only once before in his career, notched his brace with Absolute Fantasy in the Kerry Foodservice Stakes for his boss Eric Wheeler.

It was a happy ending in more ways than one after the gelding had scraped home by a neck from Mutasawwar.

Two members of the Red Square Partnership which owns the filly, Dan and Helen Butcher, married recently and went on honeymoon to Mauritius.

When they came home they found all their wedding presents had been stolen.

Carson said: 'We were lucky because the horses each side of me in the stalls stumbled as they came out and nearly brought me down.'

Pat Eddery returned from suspension with victory on Blushing Bride for trainer Jeremy Noseda in the Racehorse Owners Association Auction Stakes.

The evens favourite got a great run through on the stands` rail to beat Loyal Tycoon by three and a half lengths.

Noseda said: 'I thought at one stage she wasn`t handling the heavy going, but she got it right in the end.

'She may go for the Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket. It is a Listed race and I would like to get some black type for her.' -PA
