AGA KHAN SETTLES FOR SECOND

Sinndar`s owner the Aga Khan had to settle for second place in the Prix Marcel Boussac Criterium des Pouliches-Royal Barriere as his Karasta was unable to cope with the Pascal Bary-trained Amonita.

Johnny Murtagh always seemed to be struggling to keep Karasta, who stands at over 17 hands, balanced and she seemed to slip on two occasions in the one-mile event.

The Irish jockey seemed to have corrected the problem close home but his mount could not resist the strong burst of the winner who prevailed by two lengths under Thierry Jarnet.

'She ran a great race,' said Karasta`s trainer Sir Michael Stoute.

'She wasn`t suited by the outside draw and didn`t turn very well but she is a filly with a lot of potential.'

Karasta has drifted in Ladbrokes` betting for the Sagitta 1000 Guineas being cut from 6-1 to 10-1.

However, Stoute admitted a mile would probably be her limit.

'We`ll be setting out for a mile next year but no further,' he added.
