Ackzo, winner of the Marstons Pedigree Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter in March, has the Welsh equivalent at Chepstow next month as his main target for the first half of the season.
The seven-year-old finished sixth behind Foxchapel King on his seasonal bow in the Intervet Trophy at Cheltenham last Saturday.
Trainer Ferdy Murphy said: 'I was pleased with his run there and he has come out of the race well so we will go to Haydock on November 25th for the Tim Molony Chase and then he will go for the Welsh National.
'He did very well for a novice last season and he has strengthened up during the summer.
'Adrian (Maguire) likes him and thinks there is a big one in him. Hopefully he will be an Aintree horse in the spring.'
Murphy added that Ballinclay King, who blotted his copy book when left at the start at Carlisle last week, will bid to redeem his reputation at Ayr on December 4th.
