Still drawing the seven for a short period, Carroll got to the front on the 5/1 favourite about two furlongs out and though drifting off the rail inside the final furlong he had enough up his sleeve to see off Lake An Lay

Winning owner, Dessie Dolan, a fellow county man of the winning trainer, has seen his colours carried to victory in the past by the likes of Amongst Amigos and he always enjoys his winners, picking Carroll up off the ground in the parade ring in celebration.
Carroll then brought up a 65/1 double half-an-hour later on Theother Haaf for Andy Oliver. The very talented Kildare teenager got this Alhaarth filly up near the line to beat the gambled-on Philosophers Guest (8s into 5s) by a head in the Cummins Homevalue Hardware Handicap.
