Wise Oscar completed a 152/1 quickfire double for Dessie Hughes and Mark Enright (won the previous race with Datokepe as he took the Belvedere House Gardens & Park Handicap Chase.
The nine-year-old son of Oscar was recording his third success of 2013 having won a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day and a handicap chase at Navan in early March.
He finished fourth and third on his last two starts in valuable handicap chases at Navan and Punchestown respectively, and dropping back in class this evening he duly obliged at the odds of 7/2
On the run to the last Pigeon Creek (11/2) under Barry Geraghty was his only danger but he shook him off on the run-in to come home a two and a quarter length victor.
The Davy Fitzgerald trained Pigeon Creek had to settle for the runner-up spot for the third time in four starts while Zardsky was a further thirteen lengths back in third under Brian O’Connell at the odds of 12/1. Sword Fish was sent off the 10/3 favourite (6/1 in the morning and opened at 4/1 on track) under Alan Crowe for Christy Roche but he could only manage fifth.
Dessie Hughes said afterwards: "He's progressing well and is a smashing little horse. He did it well off 118 today.
"It was very heavy in Navan and Punchestown. He's only small and did well to get through it like he did.
"He appreciated the bit better ground there today and he can keep going now."
