Horse Racing Ireland have announced a new handicap will be added to the Curragh’s race card on Saturday October 8. With a value of €60,000, the Friends of the Curragh Pollardstown Handicap will be run over two miles 124 yards and is for three-year-olds and upward rated 0-90.

Brian Kavanagh, Curragh Racecourse CEO, said: “Given the number of horses declared for Sunday’s Friends of the Curragh Irish Cesarewitch, the Curragh are delighted that Horse Racing Ireland has agreed to programme an extra race at our October 8 fixture which will be targeted at those horses that were not able to get a run on Sunday. We are grateful to the Friends of the Curragh for their support of this new race which will be also started from stalls.

"As a result of this addition, the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden over six furlongs, originally scheduled for October 8, will now be run at the Curragh fixture scheduled for Thursday October 13 as an extra race.”
