Full Cry and Andrew Lynch on the way to victory© Photo Healy Racing
Thirteen years on from the tragic fall we had the latest installment of the Kieran Kelly Memorial Beginners Chase. Andrew Lynch was the man from the jockey's room that took the coveted prize tonight as he won aboard the Henry de Bromhead-trained Full Cry (11/2) at Kilbeggan.
The victorious Milan gelding got a fall at the first here on his last run in mid-July, but that obviously left no mark as he proved strongest from before the last when many still had chances.
Favourite Hard To Call fourth home, certainly wasn't helped by a bad mistake two out, but there was no disputing Full Cry's authority at the finish as he has five and a half lengths to spare over Swantykay
De Bromhead was praise-worthy of Lynch in the aftermath, saying: "He was great and I thought Andrew gave him a brilliant ride.
"He jumped well but I thought turning in we were in trouble. He stayed on really well and I'm delighted for the owners (Garristown Aintree Syndicate).
"I've no major plans. We'll see what comes up and I'd say a step up in trip will do him no harm.
"I thought what he had done on his best runs was good enough."
D.E. Splaine, rider of Buster Dan Dan trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped left throughout.
