He jumped out today and raced behind the bridle, I was squeezing him the whole way. He made it a little difficult for himself when he got to the front by rolling around. He's potentially a nice horse and hopefully he'll learn plenty from today. I'd say he'll get a mile-and-a-quarter or a mile-and-a-half. He stays well and is very genuine. We thought we had a nice bunch early on but they just had a cloud over them in the middle of the season and every yard gets that. Thankfully David stopped and gave them every chance. The Stewards enquired into possible interference at about the 1f pole involving Drake Passage, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed second, Right Honourable, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed third, Room To Roam, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fourth and Slaney Street, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed fifth, where it appeared Room To Roam and Slaney Street suffered interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while interference did occur, they could not be satisfied that any horse had improved it's finishing position as a result of the interference and so they made no alteration to the judges' placings. They took no further action other than to advise both P.J. Smullen and D.P. McDonogh to take more care when making manoeuvres in the closing stages of races. Mr. John McStay, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry. P.J. Smullen, rider of Right Honourable trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran short of room in the closing stages.
