Trainer Enda Bolger withdrew Garde Champetre from the La Touche Cup here on Thursday due to unsuitably fast ground but was much happier to race today, reporting "much more of an ease in the ground". The winner has proven a credit to Bolger, who seems to have found a niche for a horse who was once sold at public aution for approx E750,000. Bolger added "I thought the weight (12st7lbs) would count against him but it didn't have as much of an affect and we'll aim for a similar route again next year."

Wonderkid was second for the second time this week and ran another good race. The gelding will figure in similar races again next year and deserves to win a big banks race.

Dix Villez, rated 123 over fences, jumped well on his banks debut and has the ability to win similar races.

Berkley, rated 100, ran well but may struggle against these rivals, from level-weights, again. However he can still win over park fences.

Never Compromise was unluckly to exit the race at the 13th and would surely have been involved in the shake-up.

O'Muircheartaigh, top rated at 128, is an enigmatic character and was the perfect example of how a horse did not take to the course, eventually falling heavily at the 13th, when trailing the field.

Chapeaux Bas was reported to have burst a blood vessel.

Non-Runner was Big Hughie (lame).
