The Stewards requested a report from G.M.Lyons, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Waipu Cove (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Shane Lyons, trainer's representative, reported that this horse failed to go through a gap the last day in Roscommon due to inexperience. Today, wearing blinkers for the first time and with a bit of experience, he seemed to show an improvement. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the contents of the report. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Leath Na Hoibre, trained by Brendan W.Duke, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be stiff post race.

An extended handicap for two yrs old only which are EBF eligible (90 = 9st 7lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 7lb
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Any horse rated above 90 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 7lb. Subsequently, the excess over 90 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
