- Stewards Report
- Race Conditions
The Stewards fined Eoghan O'Grady, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Clashnabrook, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. The Stewards received a report from Mr P. Power , nominated rider of Dunroe Boy , that he would present himself at scales at 3 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had informed the trainer Thomas Coyle that he would be a possible 2 lbs overweight. He added that his weighing scales had shown inaccurate information and it became impractical to lose the required weight today. Evidence was also heard from Thomas Coyle, trainer of Dunroe Boy, who admitted that he had erred in failing to declare a possible 2lbs overweight and further requested that D. Meyler be allowed to replace Mr P. Power. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr P. Power was in breach of Rule 198 and they therefore fined him ?150. Furthermore the Stewards cautioned Thomas Coyle concerning his responsibility when declaring riders possible overweights any time in the future. The Stewards allowed the request for the change of rider. Following an inspection of the course by the Acting Stewards after the running of the fifth race, the track was found to be waterlogged in places and unsafe rendering it unfit for racing to continue. The Stewards therefore abandoned the remainder of the meeting in the interest of safety. .
