Rebel Leader (IRE) wore earplugs throughout the race.

An enquiry was held to consider interference down the back straight when the winner, Airton (GB), ridden by Fergus Gillard, interfered with Knight Commander (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Ben Jones.

Being a 7lb claimer, Gillard was offered the opportunity to have someone accompany him in the enquiry, but declined.

Gillard was cautioned for careless riding as he had manoeuvred left-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Jones to take a slight check.

An enquiry was held to consider interference at the end of the back straight when Rebel Leader (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Jamie Neild, interfered with Always Able (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Tom O'Brien, which in turn interfered with The Black Squirrel (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Brian Hughes.

Being a 7lb claimer, Neild was offered the opportunity to have someone accompany him in the enquiry, but declined.

Neild was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred left-handed when insufficiently clear, causing Always Able (IRE) to be tightened for room which in turn resulted in The Black Squirrel (IRE) having to be steadied.

Approaching the final hurdle, Dorette (FR), which fell at the hurdle, shifted right-handed whilst racing greenly, carrying Knight Commander (GB), placed fourth, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.

It was noted that Knight Commander (GB), placed fourth, was also badly hampered by the fall of Dorette (FR) at the final hurdle, which in turn caused Quivvy Lough (IRE), placed third, to be hampered and give a bump to the winner, Airton (GB).

The winner, Airton (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Uttoxeter on 8 August 2020 where the gelding finished eighth of thirteen, beaten by 25½ lengths.

It was noted that the representative of David Pipe could offer no explanation for Airton (GB)’s improved form; the gelding was routine tested.
