Kasbah landed a gamble in great style under a confident Connor King in the opening Best Price Guaranteed On All Irish Racing At Coral.ie Handicap at Dundalk.
Running for the first time since being gelded, the successful Acclamation four-year-old, burdened with top-weight here, arrived on the scene travelling powerfully inside the final quarter mile.
King was sure about what he had underneath him, as Johnny Murtagh's runner, backed in from around 8/1 earlier to a returned 3s, was merely pushed out to prevail by half a length and the same from Go Kart and Split The Atom (like the winner, well-supported, eventually heading the market at 9/4).
"That was smooth. He's quite a good horse," said Murtagh.
"He was very progressive last year and very consistent. He runs his race all the time.
"He had a nice break and was in good shape but I thought he might need the run. His class got him home. Connor said he got a bit tired at the end.
"Hopefully we have a good year with him. He handles this surface very well and he's versatile on the turf."
The Stewards informed Anthony McCann, trainer that Turfjager (GER), would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
