On Impulse asserted in the closing stages to run out a convincing winner of the concluding bumper at Thurles.
Pa King produced his mount to challenge the front-running For Freddie early in the straight and got the measure of that rival passing the furlong pole.
The Harry Kelly-trained gelding, sent off the 2/1 favourite, stayed on well to the line to post a three-and-three-quarter length success. Golan Dancer finished well to snatch the runner-up spot from For Freddie at the line.
The winner had shaped with plenty of promise on his debut when third behind Grand Partner in a Fairyhouse bumper last month.
“He had a really good first run. I thought he'd improve from it and he did,” said Kelly.
“I think he's a good horse and anything he does in bumpers is a bonus because he's unreal to jump over hurdles.
“He's for sale. My brother, who is my head man at home, put in a lot of extra work with him and that time and attention has paid off.”
