On a lot of his hurdles runs, he was entitled to go very close here. He's a really, really impossible horse to predict and train because you have to train him 70 per cent of what I train the other horses. He is kept fresh all the time so you are never sure you have him fit. What a horse, I think he has won nine or 10 in total. I think he has won four or five for me and you see the size of him. He carried top weight in Tramore the last day. He seems to be better over hurdles. He'll mix it and end up in Galway I'd say either on the Flat or over hurdles. I'd say he will go to the UK as he is a novice so I might pick up a novice over there at some point. He'll probably end up at Cheltenham in October. He was there last year and actually ran a really good race. We thought we only had to turn up in Dundalk a couple of times and he didn't fire and I don't know if he is still in love with it as he was. He's going on in years and coming October time he will probably have earned a break.

He was unlucky in Cheltenham, he got blocked just at the wrong time. He's a funny horse - this is the most under-trained horse in my yard but that's the way to train him, If you have him 101% he is too fit. He's a very petite little horse. He needs to be 85% or 90% fit and he will do his best. It was great to get the win under his belt and we'll have a bit of fun with him over the summer. I don't know why there is racing anywhere else, there should be just racing in Downpatrick! We get lucky here so I'll be coming back.

It was nice because we've had a tough run of things with a lot of seconds and maybe the horses weren't firing. It's nice to get one on the board anyway. It was a very good ride by Siobhan, she took her time and produced him nicely. He's been very straight-forward since I got him. The change of scenery always seems to make a difference. We thought he'd run very well today, we fancied him, and I'm delighted to get his head in front. The owner (Cathal McGuckin) is a very nice man and I'm delighted for him.

he’s very slow to come out of the stalls but tonight he went in last and got a lovely break. He’s very straight forward to ride but he just goes into the stalls and sits and that’s lost him a number of races.

He won — just about!. I don't know if I'll drop him back to a mile-and-a-quarter now or whether he ran a bit flatter than last week. Oisin said he just didn't feel the same as he did last week, he was a bit flatter. I'd say we won't run him for a few weeks after that. He's had plenty of runs and he seems to run better fresh. We won't panic to run him again and might try and find something in about four weeks. He'll probably get another 4 or 5lb for that. The form worked out well from last time with the second winning during the week and that probably shortened his price a bit. We did alright last time though and we're not too badly off this evening. He doesn't owe me anything now. When I got him he was rated 47 and he'll be up around 60 now. That's not too bad an improvement. He'll probably go on grass during the summer and the owner is keen to have a runner at Galway.

I've always thought he was a mile-and-two horse or even a mile-and-a-half and he's done it very well there,. He's always slow at the start and loses a lot of ground. The mile race tonight looked weaker but we put him in the two in case he didn't get in. The mile-two was always the one I wanted to go for. With a bit of luck he can win again shortly. I wouldn't be afraid of going up to a mile-and-a-half with him. Hopefully he can't punish us too much for that race and we can keep a light weight on him.

He's been a frustrating little horse and he just needs everything to fall right,. Today he was in great conditions and Oisin gave him an absolute peach. Gaelic Bloodstock picked him out for me and that's the third one they put me into that has won. They definitely know the time of day. They bought me few more in July so hopefully there are a couple more gems in among them. I'll have a chat with Cathal but I'd be inclined to come back here for the winter and give him a break. He goes so well here. On his last run he was third, only beaten a length, and things just haven't been right since. It's my first winner from the new yard as well so it's great to get up and running. It's great to get up and running for Cathal as well as he's a great supporter. Any horses that handle this we're putting away for the winter, that's the aim. Moving yards in the middle of the Flat season is never ideal so we are only getting up and running now.
