We were looking forward to her winning a maiden hurdle sooner but obviously the ground made a difference. We were hoping that she would travel on this ground,. She didn’t go on the ground at Fairyhouse. She didn’t travel at all on it and just got stuck. This ground makes a difference as she can use her turn of foot. I told her to get her settled but I thought they’d stay bunched. She was lucky to be able to come from off the pace and make no mistakes. If she had made a mistake she was in trouble. She might not have the experience for jumping in a handicap so I was hoping she’d win a maiden hurdle and she’s done that now. Hopefully she doesn’t go up too much. I think she’ll go for a handicap now.

I'm delighted. I thought it might be a bit short for her. She was third in it last year. I thought she'd need further but the little bit of a cut in the ground helped her at the end. She stays. She's a very, very useful mare to have and I'm thrilled for the owners (the Lillingston Family). I don't know where we'll go now and I might give her a holiday.

It looks like she's back to herself. She seemed to handle the ground and surprised me by being able to handle it,. I'd say we'll wait for the Vintage Crop now and if she's not good enough for that she'll go hurdling.

I've always liked her and she keeps improving. She may have had enough racing now for this year. That's my first runner in a Listed race so it has to stand as one of my career highs.

that's very satisfactory as I didn't think I'd be here very often in this kind of situation! The prize-money is high and it's a good day to have a horse for. She's always been promising and showed a lot from day one but has been unlucky once or twice. She ran well behind the Galway Hurdle winner in the Curragh and the trip was too short in Killarney. I thought she would be going jumping but she'll probably stay on the Flat for a while now.

Alan (winning owner Alan Lillington) was my idol as a rider and an event rider when he was in his prime. He was a brilliant horseman and he won the Champion Hurdle on Winning Fair (in 1963). It is the first horse I've had for him. I've always liked her but I lost a bit of confidence last week as she didn't work as well as she had before.
