he (Sure Reef) was very free and I was a little bit worried about him but Ruby decided to take him back and pull him out a bit and give him a breather. Ruby felt he couldn't continue to run a race (racing keenly) so he wanted to fill his lungs. He took a chance coming on the outside and it worked, but it wasn't Plan A! . He's a fair sort and did a fantastic bit of work during the week; he's still a bit heavy and that tells me there's huge improvement in him and Ruby said he stays all day. However the worry about running in a race like the Albert Bartlett (at Cheltenham) is that he might be too keen.

that was a good performance . Shane said it rode like a very good race and they went a really good gallop. Sure Reef is a relentless galloper and physically he has done really well recently. It was a mistake to run him the second day at Galway but he is a lovely horse and will go on improving as he has loads of size and scope. He's in the Horses In Training Sale at Newmarket on Tuesday.

We finally got his trip right. He's been a big baby,. The plan was to be handy. Shane did well to jump out. We were a bit worried about the ground but he handled it. He's improving with every run and is a lovely big honest horse. Shane is riding out of his skin at the moment and there is no better man to have on your side. He wasn't afraid to make the running and knows what he's at. He stays well for a Choisir. We always thought he had a bit of pace but his dam won over 1m6f. We might stick him in again on Sunday. We'll see how he is. We don't want to be too greedy.

Being by Choisir you wouldn't expect him to stay but he must get his stamina from the dam who won a one mile six furlong Listed race [Cutting Reef]. He does nothing in a hurry and a step up in trip certainly suited. He'd have to go to Galway and he'll come up the hill. He's genuine and takes his racing well.
