I saw 7/4 last night and thought it was a price I was half-expecting to see but then he drifted like a barge. But leave him drift all he wants, the horse doesn't know and I backed him twice at 10/1. He was awful unlucky in Limerick and Denis said to me he'd definitely have won. I blame myself in some ways for Limerick because I said to Robbie (Dunne) about my horse in the previous race (Balbir Du Matin), 'why didn't you go on on him' when he could have been 20 lengths clear turning in and went down and won. Then he went out (in the next race) and went on on him (Smokey Joe Joe)!. Today I was full of confidence because I told Denis to land him on the line and Denis is great for that.

I knew he'd handle the ground and he was entered here (Tim Duggan Memorial Chase) yesterday and I was on the verge of declaring him but then I felt it was a good race and this was a veterans' race,. He's a grand horse and we got him for nothing three years and on three legs; thanks to swimming, it keeps him sound. We'll look for something similar next.

Ger reminds me of Geraghty when he was a 5lb claimer. He was mixing it there with Ruby in a finish and gave him a peach of a ride. I'm delighted for him and I think he's a lad with a bright future. Tom (Quinn) has booked to go to Cheltenham for three or four days and he's in the novice handicap there but I'm a bit dubious about it. If the ground comes up quick he won't go. I said instead of waiting for that and missing the soft ground we'd be better getting it when we could here. He's a horse that has broken down twice and he does a lot of swimming. Probably without the swimming he'd be hard to keep sound. We just swim him and run him and don't really gallop him at home. I said going out today this was the fittest I'd had him. Ideally we would have point-to-pointed him but his legs probably wouldn't have held up to it and I'd be worried about taking him to Cheltenham as well.

I don't know where we'll go next. He keeps improving and it would be nice to have another one like him,. He'll go over fences in time and is a great jumper.

I'm stunned by that. I wasn't expecting it,. He's a good sound horse and he will be even better on better ground. I've no plans at the moment, we'll see how he is after this. He'll make a lovely chaser next year.

The ground helped a lot and the bit of experience. The ground has been a bit fast for him on all his runs so far and ideally he needs this ease. We're getting to know him a little bit better now too. He could go for a novice hurdle next maybe.

He is a very nice horse. He won his point to point by a distance. Nina gave him a smashing ride. He'll go for a winners' bumper next.
