it was a nice race to win and my first black-type (Grade C) winner. I was worried about his fitness with the ground and stepping up to two and a half miles; he'd struggle to get home over that trip around Naas or Navan. He hasn't schooled over fences but I don't see any reason why he wouldn't jump fences. We'll wait until the very good horses have won over fences before sending him over fences after Christmas. Johnny gave him a great ride . he's not an easy horse to ride and you have to let him go out in front and Johnny gets on great with him.

that was good . I was surprised he won as well as he did though! . He prefers going left-handed and thats two runs and two wins here. Andrew is getting to know him now and it worked out well today - he got a lead early on, settled and then he slipped on. He got his own way and then he was gone. He loves here and Navan and we'll look for a better race for him next.

I thought the other horse (The Paparazzi Kid) had him but he is a tough customer - not many of them who go off like that in front stay going. He settled better and he is getting a bit of sense but we might as well keep him for a novice for next year, he'll be a good thing for a maiden hurdle. That's some compensation for Navan (caught late on by Don Cossack) and he has been unlucky many times - every day he has run has been on bottomless ground and it is hard to make all on heavy ground. Today is probably the best ground he has had.

He is a full brother to Aland Islands who has won twice for Tim Vaughan. He was a big baby last year and we just had to give him time. That is my son John's first winner and his twenty.
