The jumping of the some of the five participants in the Grade 3 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase didn't always convince and a failure to negotiate the fences safely ultimately decided things in favour of Bright New Dawn. This victory brought up a double for Gigginstown House Stud (also on the score-sheet at the 'point' in Lingstown) and Bryan Cooper as the Dessie Hughes-trained Bright New Dawn added to the earlier gains for the 'maroon and white' with Empire Of Dirt (Colm Murphy).

I think he's (Quickpick Vic) very good but it has just taken him a long time to learn and grow up. He can be very free but when he put it together at Naas last year he won very well. I probably shouldn't have brought him to Liverpool because mentally he wasn't ready for it. He had a nice run at Christmas and benefited a lot from it; he's plenty good enough to be entered up for the novice hurdles.

That's a real good horse. He has been unlucky a couple of times as things just didn't go right for him. He is as good a horse as I have. He is really a Cheltenham horse and you might see him there next year over hurdles. He might go for the bumper at Aintree now.
