she can be difficult leaving the parade ring and the last day in Naas, we had to get behind her like stalls handlers to get her to go out! . We purposely didn't ride her out onto the beach, we walked her out and she seemed to love it. I was pretty pleased with her whole attitude towards everything and she went straight out. She's a sprinter, likes to go forward and we kept it simple. I have this ongoing battle every year that the horses run at Laytown off our grass marks, as opposed to our all-weather marks. Her all-weather mark is 63 but is running off 70, although on the other side if she was running off 63 she wouldn't have got into the race. It is swings and roundabouts. it's great for Mikey (Sheehy) and I'm sure he will do very well but to get that first one after losing the claim is important as it can be a mental thing. These colours mean a lot to me - they were my father-in-law's colours and my wife has taken them over.

She was very unlucky in Fairyhouse when she got no run and then Dylan couldn't ride her the last day and Mickey (Sheehy) did a great job on her. It was a toss-up between Dylan and Mickey but I've been able to get Dylan as often as I've wanted, so it was the right thing to do. We changed her routine, we don't gallop her anymore and do strong canters. Since we've stopped asking her to work fast at home, she has got a lot stronger, eats better and is a happier bunny now.

He's a talented rider (Sam Ewing). I thought they went very hard and he was clever enough not to panic. We said wherever she was able to travel herself is the right place to be. He did his homework and knew what to expect with her. In fairness to Dylan (Browne McMonagle) he told him a bit about her. She came out the right side of it and it's nice to come home in front as we've had so many seconds and thirds. She's not as mad as her half-sister (six-time winner) Aspen Belle. She has a lot of her traits and she's starting to catch up with her results wise. She's been very consistent. She was a little bit outpaced on the fast ground in Cork the last day. This is her ideal scenario, a testing five. She'll probably get six now as she's not as hard on herself as she used to be.

She's not normally one I'd like to take out quick, and Sligo was only a week ago, but we haven't ridden her out and she's just swam. She's been eating good and we felt she was well. Conor liked the look of this race from the entry stage. The ease in the ground helps her and I think we'll probably stick to sprinting with her. We've been trying to get her to relax and go six but she over-raced at Sligo and it was the wrong track with hindsight. That was kind of what we hoped she could do. She battled very well as I thought the runner-up was going better than us at the furlong marker but she kept at it well. She's always showed us a bit. She's a half-sister to Aspen Belle (six-time winner) and if she can do as well as her we'd be delighted but she has a long way to go to catch up with her.

It was a long time coming. She ran two good races in Navan and we thought the extra furlong would suit her. She was missing the kick a bit early on and we worked hard on that this week. It paid off tonight, from a bad draw she was able to get into a good position. She was a little bit free early on but she has plenty of gears. Having been racing over five and coming up to six she was probably doing a little bit more than we wanted. Conor was looking forward to riding her from the time he was sixth on her at Navan. He's always done a good job for me and he's a real professional. I wouldn't mind going back to five but Conor said if we go back to five we mightn't be able to do six again because she might get too free. She's versatile enough and over five she might settle in a bit. She's a half-sister to Aspen Belle and she has some of her characteristics, she's a bit hot but she has ability.
