Jack Finch, became the third winner of the day to have previously scored over the course (College Daisy and Dashing Ruby the other two) when he held off See Double You by a head in the Dunbia Handicap Chase. Bay Survives Late Scare

New Town Bay made it third time lucky on the racecourse when he took the opening Larrigy's Bar Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle. Supported from 12s into 9s, the seven-year-old took over in the straight and despite hanging badly left on the run-in, Andrew McNamara's mount had enough in reserve to see off favourite Pay The Ferryman (7/4 into 5/4) by a length and three parts. He jumps well. He has had leg trouble and it is a credit to everyone in the yard to get him back. He has been very consistent and it looks like he'll get a little further. He could go for some of those long distance chases later in the year.
