It was a very good performance by horse and rider,. HRI and Cork racecourse deserve to be commended for putting on the meeting so quickly again. They were unlucky with the sheer volume of rain that feel last weekend. New Phase probably doesn't get the credit he deserves. He's a very good horse and the older he gets the better he's handling the soft ground. Today was the plan and we hadn't looked beyond that. He jumped well.

He did it well. It was a good competitive race and he won well. He jumped and travelled well. Two miles three was slightly beyond him at Naas last time and back over two here he's won nicely. He enjoyed the ease in the ground and as a winner of five races now he owes me nothing. I'll talk to Dad now but I might put him away and school him over fences with a view to going chasing in the New Year.

New Phase is still a bit novicey and has lots to learn over hurdles. He'll go back to the Flat for a 1m2f handicap on The Curragh's opening day in a few weeks time and he may run at the Punchestown Festival.
