3:40pm There's the the usual eccentricity to this event with the 2009 and 2010 winners renewing rivalries. Shin A Vee won in 2009 but was narrowly beaten by COOL WARRIOR the following year and, while Derek O'Connor is a notable booking, Shin A Vee has been absent for 772 days and is now passed over. Preference is for 12 year old COOL WARRIOR, who at least has proven fitness on his side. The other 14 runners have mustered just 10 point to points wins between them and finding a form alternative to either of the two previous winners is difficult. Ten year old Norwich Flyer has three point to point wins to his name though and may play a prominent roll while Enniskillen, who worringly is still a maiden point to pointer, ran ok in the Ladies Cup on Tuesday and has minor claims. The Begrudger is a dual point to point winner a long time ago but hasn't shown anything worth mentioning recently. (TW)

He was pretty fresh and Davy said he was a little keen early. He jumped well apart from a couple of little mistakes and Davy felt going on in a better race he would be better again. The couple of times he did ask him he was brilliant. It's lovely to get that out of the way. We could look at Leopardstown at Christmas over 2m1f or there is the Hilly Way or England. Today was about getting him rolling and we'll see from here. The owner is keen to step him up and I'd say we will in time. No horse at home is fast enough to work with him, he has so many gears. He has a bit of a freaky pedigree as he's out of a Mind Games mare. He has a lot of pace. At Punchestown though it looked like all he did was stay.

I was a little bit worried about going left handed as he jumped a bit right in Navan but they can come up the stand's side here which Davy did. He did it well and jumped well. I was delighted to get the horse from the Flanagan's and we're getting to know him now and he's a nice horse to have. He did a lot of slow work before Navan and I've got stuck into him since and he takes his work well. We'll look for a winners novice chase.

He's a fair tool, and keeps improving all the time. We've schooled him over hurdles and were thinking of going hurdling. We might still consider the Cheltenham bumper. It's 50-50. He settled lovely today but Cheltenham might blow his head. We have the alternative of running him in a few good novice hurdles to give him some experience.

The owner turned down decent money for him after Galway. Declan rides out for Willie Mullins and he said this fellow is as good as anything Willie has down there. We've had the Cheltenham bumper at the back of our minds for him. We'll see how things go now. He's a fair decent horse and he's got a flat sort of pedigree. We were a bit concerned about the ground but he answered that question today. He could go for a bumper at Naas at the end of January and that'd make up our minds about Cheltenham.

He's a smashing wee fella,. He's with Willie Mullins, so is in the right place. He's learning all the time. It's great experience riding out with Patrick, Ruby Walsh and the others. He's been with me since he was knee-high as his father helps out in the yard. He was absolutely brilliant and gave him the perfect ride. This horse is a grand type. I only had him 12 weeks before he ran in Down Royal. He was so straight forward and ran a blinder then. We had no great expectations then but we knew he wasn't too bad afterwards. We decided to give him a break after that and bring him here rather than run him at some of the summer tracks. He'll have another break now and we could bring him back for the meeting at Down Royal in November. We could go for a maiden hurdle or a winners' bumper there. That looked a reasonable contest today.
