He may be a 7Ib claimer but Pat Collins has a lot of experience under his belt. He'll justifiably be proud of the ride he gave Ministerforsport (7/2 into 2/1) to land the Raceday Packages At Gowranpark.ie Point-To-Point INH Flat Race.

the form of his maiden hurdle win at Limerick worked out well with the second, third, fourth and fifth placed horses winning since and in hindsight, running at Clonmel afterwards was too soon for him and he ran flat that day. We freshened him up and he had been working quite well recently and will be a nice, tough staying chaser in time and that's what we'll keep aiming him for. I'll see how he comes out of this before making a decision on Punchestown but we found he does need a break between runs and it is highly unlikely.

I only received my licence last week and I'll have to say a big thanks to Elaine Burke and Angie Coakley in HRI as they pushed things forward and I got to run the horse today. I'm originally a Ballynoe man, am based in Carrigtwohill, have three horses and I'm a farrier by trade.

All the credit should go to Noel O'Neill. Noel is a farrier and always keeps a few horses for point-to-points. He has done all the work and used my gallops but he's only arrived in my yard about a week ago. The syndicate (featured on page A15 of today's Irish Field) are mostly from Carrigtwohill, and they are enjoying it which is what racing is all about. He was a bit unlucky last year as he kept falling but this year it has come together for him.
