His mark over hurdles was tempting and he’s after coming to himself. We were disappointed for a while over hurdles, but fences seem to have changed him and he’s after getting to like the job. I thought Brendan (Keogh, owner) was coming over and I said I’d run the two of them, but the other horse (I’m Slippy) was disappointing. I was a bit concerned about the ground for this horse, but Phillip said he handled it very well. I suppose he was entitled to win off his mark once that improvement was there compared to his hurdle runs before. I’d imagine he’ll probably go back over fences.

He was bound to come on a little bit from his win the last day but I thought two miles (and-one) might catch him today,. I also didn't want to come back 14 days later but there was nothing else suitable coming up. We'll go steady now as he has run twice in 14 days and he will probably go back hurdling at some stage, although he jumps so well that he mightn't be as effective back over hurdles.

The owner was actually going away on holidays today, so maybe that's where the money came from - I hope he paid for it!. He was owned by a friend of mine Jonathan Birkmyre but wasn't sold as a three-year-old and we liked him, so recommended Brendan (Keogh) to buy him. Brendan and I have been lucky together over the years. He works better that he runs, but has taken time and maybe isn't all that tough. He travels and jumps but is what he is.
