It probably should have been a double but I’d say the filly in the first just parked a little bit in front, and probably wants better ground as well. This filly is a different filly over five. She was drawn one and she ends up over on the stand’s side, she lost a lot of ground to come over but she needs cover. She just runs too keen over the six. She was a little bit unlucky in the Scurry and the last day, she probably should have been third or fourth the last day. She’s a hardy filly, I’d like to try and get a bit of black-type with her. There are no five furlong races but I might look at the Listed race next weekend (Brigid’s Pastures Stakes). I might look at taking her to France next year. She seems to want an ease in the ground.

The last day nothing followed the front two. She likes to take her time but, when nothing followed, she ended up being too far back. We thought dropping back to five might suit her today. Even at that, he said they were going plenty fast but once she get passing one or two.. I was surprised how easily she’s won. She’s a hardy tough filly. She eats up and she’s very straightforward. We’ll maybe try and find a bit of black-type, there are plenty of races for her and there might be another nice handicap somewhere. We’ll have a look. The way she won you’d be sticking at five with her, maybe she doesn’t quite see out the six. She won at Navan and here over six, but they were in a lesser grade. She made up about eight of ten lengths on them last time in Fairyhouse and Billy (Lee) thought a furlong down he was going to get them, but then he didn’t. She won the right race. If she had won that she probably wouldn’t have run today or she would have had a penalty.

She likes a tight finish!. I don’t like running three-year-olds against older horses so early in the season but she was a hardened two-year-old, with plenty of runs, and I thought it was worth a shot with the 12lb and Jack’s 5lb. She’s a gas one, she got there easy and then she doesn’t do too much when she hits the front. Hopefully she’s open to improvement. We’ll probably find a similar type of race and then see how far she can improve. We don’t have too many, we only have 13 riding out, so it’s nice to get one on the board and especially at the Curragh.
