He always showed plenty. He won a couple on the Flat and he had some nice placed form over hurdles. I was a bit hesitant to declare him but I said he was entitled to take his chance and I'm delighted. For the ability I know he has, and the ways he works, he's been a bit disappointing a few times. He's fairly hard on himself unless you go on in front. A lot of times you are pulling and try to settle him but he's probably better off galloping away. Bryan said he half pricked his ears in front there but he was tough and galloped to the line. He gave him a great ride. I entered him in anything and everything that suited and half didn't intend to run in this but two days ago I said we'd let him take his chance because he has form that ties in with some of them. He's in the mile handicap on the Flat on Thursday and we'll see how he is. The horses were a bit out of form a month or two ago and we gave them a bit of time off. We started having a few runners in Killarney two weeks ago and had a couple of winners so we seem to be back in form, thank God.

The little bit further obviously brought out more improvement in him,. We were running him over a bit short looking at that now. He's done it well. We just wanted to see would he stay a mile today. He shows a lot of speed at home, even the likes of Master Matt, who is a five or six furlongs horse, wouldn't work with him. We said we'd try a mile and he's obviously better over further. It opens up a few options now. Last year I thought he was a proper horse. He ran a cracker here the first day and was unlucky a few times after. In Galway the last day he missed the break a bit and they came in on top of him. I'm happy with that. Kevin had his first winner today as well so it's been a good day.

It was nice that he stepped up on his first run,. Colin said that just in the last half furlong he was tiring, it was very testing. He's a really nice horse and was showing plenty at home. He's been working well with the likes of Warnaq and One Cool Poet. He did what we expected the first day, the draw was the only doubt then, and we were delighted with him. He has plenty of potential. Colin mentioned the Birdcatcher but it might be a bit soon. We'll see how he is but if we don't get another run into him this season it's not the end of the world. Who knows I mightn't have him still if I get him sold with a bit of luck. That's my first two-year-old winner and it's great to get it.
