I was wiped out with a virus all winter, but the horses are healthy again. I haven't had a winner since last October, that's how bad it has been. Hopefully that's all gone now and they've been running well over the summer. We've some nice horses in for the winter and it's good to get back on track today and I'm really happy for her local owners (Sooner Or Later Syndicate). I had been getting her ready for Galway when she burst a blood vessel at home, so had to rejig things. She is tiny, only about 15.2hh, but always runs a great race here. I spotted this rescheduled meeting and said I'd start her back here and hoped that she wouldn't bleed. She is not a bleeder though and it was just a bump in the road. It was good to see her finishing so well today.

The horses are well thank God,. I thought she should have nearly won in Ballinrobe and could have gone very close in Kilbeggan, and lost her hind legs at the back of the last in Tramore. Beautiful ride, mid-division and scraped the paint. The only moment was when she was a bit long at the second. These races are so determined by the experienced riders. She made the difference anyway. She's a little bit tricky, so I rang Maxine a week ago and I said 'if you have nothing that is jumping off the page at you, I think I'll go close'. That's how ahead of the game you have to be. Great to get her head in front. She is 15.2 and I put a syndicate into her that wanted to lease something. You wouldn't be brave enough to waste an entry fee on her going to the sales that height, she's so small. This is her game, but a little Flat race might not be beyond her somewhere along the line. We might wait until next year, we'll see.

It’s the first winner for the (Sooner Or Later) syndicate that is newly formed and includes Jack Barden who was involved in Penny’s Bill that won the Pierse Hurdle for me.
