I couldn't believe the price he was and told the lads to back him. Donnas Palm had been running in very good company but is a little bit of a lad and the blinkers helped. The last day at Leopardstown he looked like he had a chance turning in but the next thing he was gone! He probably wants further than two miles and he needed every inch of it there. It was a race he had a chance of winning on ratings and he jumped well. I don't know where I'll go with him now, he won't be going to Cheltenham or anything like that. He is rated high enough but wouldn't be good enough for the Powers Gold Cup either - we'll look for something a grade below that and he'll get 2m4f.

Donnas Palm was disappointing at Fairyhouse when he really should have been closer to Voler La Vedette. We'll wait and see with him before making up our minds to run.

He just hadn't been sparkling at home. He tends to be quite lazy but he just started to come right in the last ten days. When he first came back in he got a stone bruise which took him a long time to get over.

My only concern was that he might not get two and half miles so the slow pace really suited us. He's a good horse we just don't know how good he is but he's up there with Go Native and Muirhead. I'm not too sure where we'll go next. I don't know what happened him last year maybe he did too much racing too quickly.

There's not a whole lot between this lad and my other Grade 1 horse's. We just sneaked this lad into the race today on prize money. That wasn't a bad performance but because of his set-back last year I didn't want to over challenge him. We will wait until Leopardstown at Christmas and see what happens but he's a horse going the right way.

I'll enter him in the November handicap and see what way they assess him,. If for some reason Go Native didn't go to the north (Down Royal) that would be an option but he wouldn't run in the November handicap then. It'll be one or the other. I probably overdid it a little bit with him last season and I have to stop myself doing that again. After his next run he'll have to mix it with the big boys. When he tailed off last year he tailed off very bad. We couldn't find anything wrong with him but it must have been something. He had a very hard race against Hurricane Fly and maybe that took more out of him than we thought. Then we brought him to Navan at Christmas and that was probably too soon. I just have to mind that I don't do that again.

He rides well and is a genuinely good kid,. He is very good over jumps and has done a lot of schooling over fences and hurdles. He's a kid with a future. We were pretty confident as he had been working well with the horse that won on Sunday (Go Native). I don't know what happened him towards the end of last season - maybe he's better fresh. He started off well but had a couple of hard races and just felt the effect. It's quite possible he could go to Punchestown for a race for last season's novices.

He was impressive, we didn't think he'd handle the ground today. We'll probably go for The Royal Bond at Fairyhouse with him next. The horse is owned by a group of 12 politicians, which includes The Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
