That mistake would put the heart crossways in you! It was the first hurdle he was in front, and he'd jumped well up to then.

He missed the second last and done the same at the last. It was unfortunate for Dessie's horse (Icy Reply) that she veered a little to the left but in fairness to my fella he stuck at it well to get there in the last fifty yards. He's a good stayer and he'll probably jump a fence (a point-to-point winner in the past). (TW & EM)

he put a poor run at Killarney behind him - he was a bit free and was handier than he would have liked and didn't perform. He settled much better today. Galway is on the agenda whether that's the Galway Hurdle or the winners' of two, as he's still only six. Things went pear-shaped with him earlier in the season but we're beginning to learn how to ride him. Today he was more manly and I was glad to see him stretching out and winning the battle.

He seems to have improved for two reasons. He relaxed today as he'd a few runs with the choke out, and it was a weakish race. But the important thing was he finished off his race well. He'll be kept on the go and may be slightly better on good ground.
