He's a tough, very genuine, game horse,. In his younger days he was a very immature horse so I gave him a lot of time and it all paid dividends. He loves to come from off the pace and he's very consistent. He ran very well in the Nasrullah (when third at Leopardstown), he was only beaten over a length. Ground-wise he's pretty versatile but he doesn't want extremes, he wouldn't handle very soft or very firm. The Northfields Handicap here on Champions Weekend will be his next race.

He got an easy lead, they went no pace. They cantered along in front, he gave him a kick and sprinted home. It worked out well and Chris gave him a super ride. He ran a very good race at the Curragh last time and went up 4lb for getting beat half a length. The Nasrullah Handicap back here next month would be a smashing race for him, but we'll see what happens.

it was nice to do and I got plenty of advice on how to ride the track from Kevin Prendergast and the boss (Weld). I thought he had his chance, the boss has sweetened him up and has done a few things differently with him. We thought Laytown would spark a him into life, he probably wants to go a little bit further but he toughed it out well. They went quick and then steadied so I had to make a move after going two furlongs to get up behind the two leaders. I thought I was going to win a little better than I did but Colin's (Keane, on Yester) pulled out more so it was nice to get it.
