He's plenty of ability but has also had a lot of problems, and this was nearly his last run,. We brought him to a cross-country course on Thursday jumping banks and ditches instead of galloping and it's sweetened him up. We should have done it a long time ago. Robbie gave him a great ride. He doesn't find a lot off the bridle, and he just left him alone.

Paul (Townend) said he would have no problem with going two and a half miles and we thought the same before coming here today. We'll look at some of the better novice for him now but he's had two quick runs so he'll tell us when to go. He hadn't a hard race and I don't think it took too much out of him. He settled better because they went a bit faster and I think he'll go in yielding ground but he handles that well and we'll stick with it while we can. Everyone who sees him says he is a chaser in the making and everything he does is a stepping stone to going chasing next season.

I'm delighted for Caolaneoin's owners after deciding not to sell him after his good debut run. He is a real longterm prospect and he needs a big galloping track. it depends what he is like after this win but all being well he'll go for the final of the Rockview Series at The Curragh next before then going for a bumper at Punchestown.
