We're delighted. He settled much better today so he was able to ride him that bit closer and he picked up nicely. He jumped better today as well. He's jumping better and settling better and I think that's why he has improved. There might be something in Leopardstown for him. He might creep into the bottom of the two-miler there. Two miles on decent ground is important. He wouldn't want it any softer. It's dead enough there but he handled it fine.

The main thing was to get over his last (hurdle) run when he fell (at Gowran Park in September last year), but he got him around nicely and he settled. We were fortunate to get this type of ground in November, so we'll probably tip away on the all-weather for the rest of the year.

I'm delighted to get my first winner, it's been a long time coming and a lot of hard work. I'm very fortunate that I got a job working for Michael and Ruth Foley at Old Leighlin Stables. I'm only in the job a couple of weeks and I've around ten horses in. I'm very grateful for their support. This is a nice horse to have. He's quirky and kicked the box the whole way from Carlow, but he's tough and we'll find something at Galway for him. He wouldn't want the ground any quicker than this. I thought the horse (Mythical Rock) in the maiden was going to be my first winner, I was walking in thinking he had it, but he's run a blinder (in second) and has really come on for his first run. He's another nice horse to have in the yard. I was head lad for Emmet Mullins for two years and then I pre-trained for Jessie (Harrington) for two years as well. Ruairi Devine works with me in the yard and has 20 years experience in the game, so lot of credit goes to him.

that win is a long time coming as I haven't had a winner since last November and it was bugging me but they are all running well. Brave Troop has really grown up. When he won for me in October I only had him a month or two but this time I have him longer. He's really matured and he's a nice horse to have in the yard and it's good for the owner (Sarah Corcoran) as well. He'll improve again from that and we'll go for another handicap with him. He'll probably go jumping again during the summer, he probably wants better ground to stay.

the change of scenery helped I suppose and Rory (Cleary, winning jockey) said he was run off his feet early, was pulling too hard and then settled him in. He was doing enough in front, he just pricked his ears and Rory said he had loads left. We'll find a race quick enough for him while he is fresh and well and he's a nice horse to go forward with. That ground really helped and 1m2f suited. we came up early today and got him to the start early with the red hood on. Lorraine does a lot of work with him at home and it is a good team effort to get him where we got him today. He has been working well and has been out in the paddock in an unstressed environment as much as we can.
