16/1 outsider Boland's Corner survived a scare at the last as he ran on strongly to take the 2m 6f Oakbruce Properties Handicap Hurdle for his trainer Ruaidhri Tierney. Sun 09th Oct

The syndicate (the De Courcey Racing Club) are an eight member and they have been very loyal to me over the last four to five years. David (Splaine) said he didn't see the rail as he had his head down driving him out. I have no plans for him now we will see what the handicapper does with him. In time he will make a nice chaser as he has school very well at home. He is a good tough horse who we should have fun with over the winter.

Boland's Corner is from a German Flat pedigree and loved that good ground. The first-time blinkers seemed to turn him inside out too and while he had a good run two runs back, my horses were sick when he ran last. He'll go for a handicap hurdle next and, while not overly big, should jump a fence in time.
