he has been a great servant and he now won seven races for us. He won a novice hurdle here at the festival a number of years ago but he has been wrong for nearly three years. If he gets a clear run, he's a decent horse and we seem to be able to keep him sound now. We'll give him an entry in the Ulster Derby now.

I'm absolutely delighted with that because after going to Cheltenham with him, we were disgusted and I could have crawled under a rock! He seemed in good form going there and I thought he'd run a reasonable race but he hit the first couple and ran no race. He was rated 139 at one time over hurdles and was a decent horse but then got injured and has had little niggly injuries since; when he's right he's good though but when he's wrong he can be terrible. We'll go for a two mile handicap hurdle at Leopardstown next.

He fractured a joint two years ago and has been lame on and off ever since. The last six weeks he stayed sound and we have been able to get a run of work together. He ran a cracker at Cork and while I wouldn't run one again so quick normally, once he was sound I decided to go for it. I didn't think it would be too tough a race but it turned out to be a really good beginners chase and he did it well. If he stays sound I'd say we will head to Listowel with him. His owner has been very patient with him and he has had a lot of bad luck.

I'm delighted with that as Paul said he hated the ground, he'd want it looser. He said that he asked him three out when he shouldn't have and that he was surprised that he picked up so well after that. He also felt that he had plenty of horse under him when the other horse (Takeyourcapoff) came to him. Tipperary in October and possibly Cheltenham the following month would be on our minds now.

we started the year hoping Ballyadam Brook would win a handicap from a rating of 85 or 90 and while he has obviously improved a lot, I never expected him to improve this much. He had an operation on his nostrils and it has proven a great success. he didn't jump with much fluency today again, but is much better over fences. We may run him in a novice hurdle at Listowel in September and then give him a break before maybe going chasing around Christmas time.

We're delighted with that. He was knocked out (lame) for 3 weeks after winning in Sligo and I thought we were in trouble to be honest but he came right and he did his first bit of work back 2 weeks ago and sure he was fairly straight anyway. Paul said he gave a blow two out there but you'd expect that. He'll go for the two and a half mile novice at Galway on the Thursday if he is okay now. He has improved an awful lot considering we couldn't even get him to finish in a point-to-point at the start. There is no reason to think that he won't improve another bit still. He'll be entered in Galway on the Monday too.

He is a horse we paid big money for and he had disappointed. We had an unusual operation carried out on his nostrils by Ger Kelly in Fethard and when we brought him back we weren't hoping for a whole lot. However he has progressed from a few placings and we're delighted with the win tonight. He'll have a small break now and then go to Galway maybe where he'd have a couple of options.
