3:40pm There's the the usual eccentricity to this event with the 2009 and 2010 winners renewing rivalries. Shin A Vee won in 2009 but was narrowly beaten by COOL WARRIOR the following year and, while Derek O'Connor is a notable booking, Shin A Vee has been absent for 772 days and is now passed over. Preference is for 12 year old COOL WARRIOR, who at least has proven fitness on his side. The other 14 runners have mustered just 10 point to points wins between them and finding a form alternative to either of the two previous winners is difficult. Ten year old Norwich Flyer has three point to point wins to his name though and may play a prominent roll while Enniskillen, who worringly is still a maiden point to pointer, ran ok in the Ladies Cup on Tuesday and has minor claims. The Begrudger is a dual point to point winner a long time ago but hasn't shown anything worth mentioning recently. (TW)

She's never let us down . she's game and tough. I thought the two miles might be a bit sharp for her but that trip here on that ground is a test of stamina. They got into a battle in the straight and that's her forte. Tarla and Byerley Babe are two good mares and I have the two and a half miler at Fairyhouse in mind for my one now (the Grade 3 John and Chic Fowler Memorial Mares Chase in which Avondhu Lady finished second to Nadiya De La Vega last year).

I'm delighted with that. Coming back over hurdles you never know but I thought if things went right she would win. She's won on heavy ground and good, and is very tough and genuine.

She's improving all the time. I thought she had a reasonable chance at the weights. There wasn't much between her and Our Girl Salley on their last two runs and she was getting a little pull today. I was delighted with her coming into the race. She's tough and we'll stick to the mares races.

She did well in point-to-points last year and she needed her first couple of runs on the racecourse proper to get her here today. She is very tough and genuine and she'll be kept to mares company. Really she wants three miles as stamina is her forte. The ground made up for the distance (2m 4f) there as it was a stamina test. I'm delighted for the Flynn brothers who own her. They are great supporters of mine, they have the Avondhu Bar in Fermoy, hence the name of the mare. Richard Flynn is the name on the racecard, his brother is Thomas.
