Allaho looked back to himself having not quite got home in the King George. He isn't getting any younger,à it took him a while to warm up into his jumping (at Kempton) and he is better going left-handed.à . Paul was a little worried that he got a hard race in the King George and was coming back quite quickly but the further he went, the better he travelled and jumped. He is a big, big horse who likes better ground and going left-handedà at Cheltenham suits him down to the ground. I'd imagine it is all roads back to the Ryanair (Chase) now. Today's race was a Grade 1 in all but name, with all being Grade 1 winners, so is great for Thurles and it is a brilliant race to target every year.

Bryan Cooper who rode Al Boum Photo said he’d never ridden in a faster Gold Cup in his life. It was end-to-end stuff. He just got beaten in Cheltenham as a novice over three miles but he’s a lot more mature now and able to stay. I’ll have a word with the owners to see where we go. That will open a lot more options for him now and he’s going to be more mature next season. Another quarter of a mile (in the Cheltenham Gold Cup) is tough but I think he’s better going left-handed.

It took a good while for him to get warmed up and he was sticky over the first few fences, where I thought he might have needed some company. He didn't jump really well until the fourth or fifth fence but flew the last and Paul said he was flying at the finish,. He is a big horse - we've had some huge horses over the years Douvan, Monkfish and him. Some of those big horses can't adjust at fences but he can and danced in front of a couple of fences and does it very easily. If he's not right, he isn't afraid of taking a few quick steps to get out over them. We were very happy with him at home and that is it until the Ryanair - more than likely that is the race for him.

I was delighted how he fought back. When Asterion Forlonge came up alongside him I thought that will take the stuffing out of him. Each challenger that came he kept pulling it out. He raced very lazily today which is not like him and he was going a bit to his left which is not like him so we will have to look at all that for the future. Our horses are not fully wound up yet and I was hoping his ability would pull him through. Taking on horses with a run under their belt can be very tough. I was very happy with the way they all performed and hoping they will all improve from that.

That was an awesome performance. I thought Min would go with him every step of the way but his jumping wasn’t up to scratch, we might have to look at that. Allaho did everything right. The first thing I did when Rachael came back was lift the number cloth to see if the lead was still in there as it looked like he was just carrying Rachael!. He was just awesome, his galloping and jumping, if he puts the two together — I was hoping he could do that over three miles, but if he’s only a two-and-a-half-miler that will do me. I think aggressive tactics suit him, watching at home he just gallops and jumps. I was as gobsmacked as anyone watching it, I fully expected the two of them to collapse at the third-last but that is their style, we just had to hope one would be good enough. We might try three miles again, maybe the King George, we’ll see what connections think.

I think he was idling in front all the time and that might be more his trip. I was a little worried when Elimay got to him but when he saw her he picked up and went away again like a decent horse,. Elimay ran a fantastic race as well and she will go for the Opera Hat Chase in Naas next and maybe on to the mares' chase in Cheltenham after that. Allaho is a huge horse and I thought he was a three miler but maybe he is better off coming back to 2m4f or 2m5f - I am thinking about the Ryanair for him. He is making progress and I think he will improve into the spring which is the time of year you want to improve in. I'm looking forward to his next run and he'll probably go straight to Cheltenham.

From what I could see it looked like he jumped great. Paul just thought he was getting a bit tired the last day and jumped left. I'm happy with him and I'd imagine he will take up some engagement at Cheltenham after that, we'll see whether he goes for the RSA or the Marsh Chase. I'll have a word with Paul and see what he says. At least that is job done, it's a bit later in the season than we thought but it's done. I doubt he'd run again before Cheltenham. I'll have a chat with connections but I wouldn't think so unless Paul thought he needs another day out.

He is a nice horse who disappointed me hugely in a bumper at Christmas, compared to the work he had been doing at home. The form did work out though and he was green at Christmas which was the problem. We saw it again today as he was very green about getting going to win his race. He had been very free throughout the race so to come off a pace like that pulling as hard as he did and pick up, I was very impressed with him. He looks a real chaser in the making and we ran him in that race to see where to go at Cheltenham. Having gone a mile in that race, I thought if he won that the Ballymore could be the race for him because he was very free. He's in that and the Albert Bartlett and he'll go straight to Cheltenham now. Maybe with that race out of his system he might settle better the next day.
