The winner, Zig Zag (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Hexham on 4 May 2019 where the gelding finished sixth of six, beaten 94 lengths.
Philip Kirby’s explanation that in hindsight, the race at Hexham may have come too soon, the gelding having raced on the flat five days previously, was noted.
The performance of Little Stevie (GB) which started favourite and finished seventh, was considered.
Stella Barclay’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the heavy ground was noted.
Following the race Billy Garritty reported that Movie Set (USA), which was pulled up, became unbalanced after the road crossing and was never travelling thereafter.
