Permission was given for Ranch Hand (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Approaching the 2-furlong marker, Dubai Horizon (IRE), unplaced, shifted slightly right-handed away from the whip causing interference to the following horses; Collide (GB), unplaced, Alright Sunshine (IRE), unplaced, Ernesto (GER), unplaced and Hochfeld, unplaced, which in turn caused the rider of Here And Now (GB), unplaced, to be crowded for room against the rail.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference in this race.
In the first incident, on turning out of the back straight, Shailene, unplaced, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, interfered with Alright Sunshine (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Daniel Tudhope and Themaxwecan (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by James Doyle.
The interference was found to be accidental and beyond De Sousa’s control as his saddle had slipped forward and Shailene, which had been running freely for a prolonged distance, shifted left-handed causing Tudhope to take a significant check and for Doyle to be carried off his intended line.
In the second incident, on approaching the final furlong, Alright Sunshine (IRE), interfered with Shailene.
Tudhope was suspended for 5 days for improper riding as he manoeuvred his horse sharply right-handed making contact with Shailene where it ought to have been obvious that interference would result.
Following the race, Silvestre De Sousa reported that his saddle slipped on Shailene (IRE), unplaced, and that the mare had also ran too free.
Stevie Donohoe reported that Deal A Dollar (GB), which finished last of the sixteen runners, was never travelling and the Veterinary Officer reported that the colt finished lame on its left-hind.
