Bernie's Boy (GB) ran yesterday, 15 January 2019, at Kempton.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held into why Ryan Moore, the rider of King Robert (GB), failed to carry a speed sensing device in this race.
Moore and the Steward were interviewed.
Moore explained that when he went to collect his saddle cloth, his allotted cloth was not present, and was given a replacement that was found to not contain a speed sensing device when the gelding was being saddled.
The Steward added that it appeared that Dougie Costello, the rider of BOOK OF DREAMS (IRE), in Race 6, had weighed out early and had been given the saddle cloth containing the speed sensing device.
The Steward further explained that the error occurred due to King Robert (GB) and BOOK OF DREAMS (IRE) both carrying number 2 in their respective races and where Race 5 required speed sensing devices, Race 6 did not.
Moore’s explanation was noted.
Following the race, Ryan Moore reported that King Robert (GB), placed sixth, ran flat.
