He did it well, he stayed at it well and will probably stay further. He's a big horse but handles that surface quite well so I'd say we'll come back here in the New Year for something. We could also go to England with him. I'm delighted for Derek Kierans, who is the biggest owner in the yard and has been very loyal. He's probably more of a summer hurdler. He probably wants good ground over jumps, a little ease in it. He's a nice dual purpose sort. He's a big horse and is probably only coming to himself now so there might be a little bit left in him. He's won a couple of races for us and should win a couple more.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Spelga (GB), ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed sixth, Drakensberg, ridden by R.C. Colgan, unplaced and Canning, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, where it appeared that Drakensberg ran short of room when between horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action
R.P. Whelan, rider of Spelga (GB) trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount went left when under pressure in the closing stages
At the request of the Stewards, A.W. Short, rider of Nibiru, trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he was unseated from his mount when it plunged on leaving the stalls and then jammed on. .
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 45-75
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight is 8st 6lbs
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
