Permission was given for T Maxie (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Approximately 1 ½ furlongs out, Lorenzo Atzori, the rider of Shamshon (IRE), placed third, was forced to switch left-handed off the heels of the easing T Maxie (IRE), which was subsequently pulled up, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the dead-heated winner, Wiley Post (GB), ridden by Jason Watson, interfered with the dead-heated winner, Vandad (IRE), ridden by Luke Morris.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Wiley Post (GB)’s placing as the momentum lost as a result of the interference was greater than the dead- heat between Wiley Post (GB) and Vandad (IRE) at the winning line.
The Stewards revised the placings as follows: First, Vandad (IRE); Second, Wiley Post (GB); Third, Shamshon (IRE); Fourth, Haveoneyerself (IRE).
The interference was found to be accidental as initially, Wiley Post (GB) and Vandad (RE) shifted left-handed independently of each other, but Wiley Post (GB) continued to shift left- handed, despite Watson’s best efforts, heavily bumping and unbalancing Vandad (IRE).
Following the race, Jason Watson reported that Wiley Post (GB), placed second, hung left-handed.
