The Stewards interviewed R. Aguiar, rider of Shes Queen, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found R. Aguair to be in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended R. Aguair for 3 racedays. Acting Steward Mr. Michael Hillman absented himself from this enquiry. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Optional Necessity, trained by P.J.Prendergast, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. R.P. Whelan, rider of Optional Necessity trained by P.J.Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action.
