An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the approach to the final half furlong when the winner, Magical Wish (IRE), ridden by Tom Marquand, interfered with ATTAINMENT, placed second, ridden by Jamie Spencer.

The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Magical Wish (IRE)’s placing, as although the colt had attempted to bite ATTAINMENT, ATTAINMENT lost little to no momentum.

Despite being intimidated momentarily, it was felt that ATTAINMENT had sufficient time to rally and, on the run to the line, had itself leant on Magical Wish (IRE) moving the colt slightly off its intended line.

A further enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following two incidents of interference.

In the first incident approximately 1 ½ furlongs out in which the placings were considered, Shanghai Grace (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Cieren Fallon, interfered with Buckingham (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Charles Bishop.

Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Fallon was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry, but declined.

The Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Shanghai Grace (GB) as Buckingham (IRE) had been hampered and the resultant check by the rider caused a loss of momentum greater than the nose distance between the two at the line; they revised the placings as follows: Buckingham (IRE), placed fourth, Shanghai Grace (GB), placed fifth.

Fallon was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had switched left-handed when insufficiently clear.

In the second incident, approaching the final furlong, Shanghai Grace (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Cieren Fallon, interfered with Freedom And Wheat (IRE), placed seventh, ridden by Rhiain Ingram.

Fallon was suspended for 6 days for careless riding as he had manouevered to his left when there was insufficient room to do so, causing Ingram to have to take a significant check against the rail.

Luke Morris, the rider of Facethepuckout (IRE), placed third, was present for this enquiry but it was found that he was clear of Fallon when edging slightly off his intended line.

Following the race, Rhiain Ingram reported that Freedom And Wheat (IRE), placed seventh, suffered interference in the home straight.
