The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms Aveena O'Keeffe, regarding the failure of D.P. Linehan, rider of Aurelia Cotta, placed sixth, to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the Clerk of the Scales and the rider concerned in the presence of Denis Coakley, representing Anthony Mullins, trainer of Aurelia Cotta. Ms O'Keeffe stated she had no interaction with the rider after the race until he presented himself to weigh out for the following race, while D.P. Linehan claimed he was told by the Clerk of the Scales that he was not required to weigh in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion D.P. Linehan was in breach of Rule 227 (i) in that he failed to weigh in and using their powers under Rule 230, disqualified Aurelia Cotta from sixth place and amended the result to read; First: Rose De Pierre Second: Flight Risk Third: Brendan Brackan Fourth: In My Pocket Fifth: Sruthan Sixth: Midnight Crossing Furthermore, they noted the explanation offered by D.P. Linehan, and took no further action as they felt there was insufficient evidence. C.D. Hayes, rider of Sruthan trained by P.D. Deegan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was hampered leaving the stalls. The Stewards attempted to interview K.J. Manning, rider of Flight Risk, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. However, they were unable to speak to K.J. Manning and were informed he had left the track, this being before the winner all right signal had been given. In view of this, the Stewards referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club. .
