Permission was given for King Cnut(FR) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post wearing a red hood.
The winner Between The Waters (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Fontwell on the 23rd of August 2022 where the gelding was pulled up.
Jamie Snowden explained that the gelding appreciated a drop back in trip to 2m 4f from 3m 1f and appreciated the return to chasing on this occasion.
Between The Waters (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Ten Past Midnight (GB), which was pulled up, was considered.
Martin Keighley's representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than the report from Sean Bowen that the gelding had jumped poorly.
And following the race Tim Vaughan’s representative reported that Cape Robin (IRE), placed fourth, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Good, Good to Firm in Places but was subsequently changed following this race to Good to Firm, Good in Places, and would prefer an easier surface.
