An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Amity Island (GB), ridden by Lewis Edmunds and Knightly Spirit (GB), placed second, ridden by David Allan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Amity Island (GB)’s placing as the gelding lugged right unbalancing Knightly Spirit (GB) and carrying the gelding off its intended line to be beaten by a nose.
The placings were revised as follows: First – Knightly Spirit (GB); Second – Amity Island (GB).
The interference was found to be accidental as Amity Island (GB) had shifted quickly right before being swiftly corrected.
David Allan, the rider of the winner, Knightly Spirit (GB), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from approaching the final furlong.
