A Sure Welcome (GB), trained by John Spearing, was late in the Parade Ring due to Luke Morris having ridden in the previous race which was late off and therefore being late to weigh out.
Union Rose (GB), trained by Ronald Harris, was late in the Parade Ring due to David Probert having ridden in the previous race which was late off and therefore being late to weigh out.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Venturous (IRE), placed second, ridden by Sean Levey, interfered with Patrick (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Barry McHugh, which in turn interfered with The Establishment (GB), unplaced, ridden by Eoin Walsh.
Levey was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear, crowding McHugh for several strides onto Walsh, who had to steady his mount.
A further enquiry was held to consider interference just inside the 4 furlong marker when Union Rose (GB), placed third, ridden by David Probert, interfered with A Sure Welcome (GB), unplaced, ridden by Luke Morris, which in turn interfered with Nibras Again (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Paul Mulrennan, which in turn interfered with Van Gerwen (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joe Fanning.
Probert was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to edge left-handed when insufficiently clear of a very free- running A Sure Welcome (GB), which had to be checked and in turn caused Nibras Again (GB) and Van Gerwen (GB) to be tightened for racing room.
Following the race, Luke Morris reported that A Sure Welcome (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, ran flat and Cam Hardie reported that Canford Bay (IRE), placed seventh, was denied a clear run and hung left-handed.
